Helm ran as a candidate (endorsed by the Constitution Party) to represent the 10th Congressional District in the 2024 election.

Helm continues to speak for three key values:

1.  Debt is still the biggest issue facing the American people.  The first step to take in addressing the debt crisis is to stop adding to the debt.  Congress must write and pass a Balanced Budget.  A Balanced Federal Budget makes every American stronger.  Currently, deficit spending is equal to 6% of the Gross Domestic Product.  Congress must face the facts and stop spending money.

For 40 years, Congress has been over-spending and under-funding government.  Many democrats claim that it does not matter how much we spend.  Many republicans believe that we can not stop spending.  Strong people live within their means.  America is a nation of strong people.  Let’s get busy, reduce the size of government, restructure the functions of government that are leading us to over-spend, and balance the budget.

2.  Legal immigration is the only way forward.  The asylum system is broken.  Let’s build a better system on the basis of principles that protect American people and American culture.  Let’s put in place incentives that lead new immigrants who are seeking a healthy economic system to comply with the law.  This nation is built on the rule of law.  Americans expect immigrants to enter according to the law.  As a nation we do not turn our heads and look the other way when people break the law.  Undocumented persons living within our nation need to go out and begin the process of entering this nation in a legal manner.

Rather than hear politicians say, “I’m ready to fight!”  We need politicians who are ready to listen.  We have to talk to each other and write laws that secure our borders by bringing undocumented, illegal border crossings to a complete stop.  In an age of easy travel, when persons move from one continent to another in a matter of 12 hours, we need to agree on basic principles that will ensure our security and the security of those who travel here.  Dual citizenship may be a concept of the past.  America is one nation.  We respect people made by God no matter what citizenship they carry.  We welcome outsiders who want to work, who want to assimilate to our laws and ways, and who want to open themselves to speak our language.  We are united as a people and are proud of the values and culture that make us American.

3.  Traditional families and traditional family values are the building block of this society.  Marriage is the decision that allows young people to form a new family.  Marriage means one man, one woman, one lifelong union.  Building and maintaining a strong family may be some of the hardest work that you will ever do.  We do not always succeed, and we do not look down on those who experience divorce.  But we acknowledge that a stable family makes every child happier.  We acknowledge that children need a father and a mother.

Service, love, compassion, humility – these are values that help families survive and thrive.  Government has no place eroding the Judeo-Christian ethical values and cultural norms that have developed as families, church, and limited government have interacted in this nation over 250 years.  Parents are in charge of children.  The school system has no place challenging the moral conviction of parents and of the church who teach that homosexuality is a sin.  In America, homosexuality has been decriminalized.  The church does not hate people who are trapped in wicked or deceptive lifestyles; to the contrary, the church welcomes sinful people!  Government must never be used to promote or to protect sin.

Helm is testing the waters to see if running for office is the next step in the 2026 mid-term election.

Core Values:

With gratitude, we acknowledge God’s blessings.  Almighty God, revealed in the person and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, is the one who preserves and rules the universe and these United States.

Life is sacred.  We acknowledge the God-given personhood of all human beings from conception.  It is unconscionable to take the life of a child for the crime of his father.

Religious Freedom.  Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

Traditional Family.  The traditional family, consisting of one man and one woman joined in marriage is the most secure form of family and should be encouraged by law.

Private property.  American citizens have the right to own property.  Government should not be used to force change in property ownership or to undermine the right to own property.

Gun ownership.  The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Pro-capitalism.  Anti-socialism.  The free market and competition in setting wages and prices are to the great advantage of the American economic system.  The use of government to feed, educate, medicate, and insure citizens is not outlined in the Constitution.

National sovereignty.  The United States is a free and sovereign republic.  We strive to live in peace with all nations without interfering in their internal affairs and without permitting their interference in ours.
